Where We Build Matters — Housing, Risk, and Reslience

Join Insurance for Good for the last webinar of the year in our Research for Practice Series on November 17 at 1:00 PM ET! Bimonthly hear from experts discussing recent research and its implications for policy and practice.

In this webinar, Andrew Rumbach and Sara McTarnaghan, co-leads of the Urban Institute’s Climate and Communities Practice Area, will present research on the intersection of climate risk, housing, and land use policy. They will discuss how local land use and zoning decisions shape patterns of development in hazard-prone areas and explore ways to better align climate resilience and housing affordability goals. Their presentation will address the often-perceived tension between safety and affordability and highlight opportunities for communities to support both resilient and inclusive growth.
