The Learning Lab for leaders building resilience and improving recoveries.
The problem.
Communities are facing increasing threats from natural hazards. The costs from these disasters are rising, making insurance harder to get and more expensive. To help manage the fiscal risk of disasters for both local governments and their residents, local leaders need a deeper understanding of insurance, both public programs and private markets, and how new solutions can support broader community resilience and recovery efforts.
A deeper understanding of risk transfer markets and tools can enable communities to better educate their residents, increase the inclusivity of markets, improve equity in recovery, drive more investments in resilience, and improve preparedness for growing disaster risks.
The Learning Lab.
The Insurance for Good Learning Lab is a tailored, year-long program of education, capacity building, and experimentation for cohorts of local leaders.
Through the Learning Lab, participants get accessible and actionable information and tools, a space for peer-learning, and access to experts to help them problem solve and develop innovative solutions.
