Communities are facing increasing threats from natural hazards, including flooding. As we enter a historic El Nino season, elevating flood risk in California, please join the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and Insurance for Good Tuesday, October 27th from 12:00-1:00pm (PST) to discuss improving flood risk management.
This webinar will highlight flood risks, its impact on the San Diego region, and how we can leverage insurance solutions to build community and statewide climate resilience to disaster events. Presentations will provide an overview of increasing flood risks in California and the San Diego landscape and how this risk intersects with flood insurance, and the pending impacts of El Nino and the value of preparing for flood risk early. Additionally, speakers will highlight key takeaways from the latest report “Strengthening Incentives for Flood Risk Reduction in Catastrophe Modeling and Insurance: Recommendations for California Coastal Counties” developed in partnership by the California Ocean Science Trust, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and the California Department of Insurance.
The San Diego Insurance Innovation Incubator (SDI3) is a partnership and program facilitated by the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative and Insurance for Good.
This webinar is open to anyone, you do not need to be an SDRCC member to attend, and the webinar content will be particularly valuable for adaptation and climate practitioners working across the California landscape and San Diego County region.
